The Metropolitan Bank Appoints Wei Chen to its Holding Company Board of Directors
Chen founded Sunshine Enterprise, Inc. after he earned his International MBA degree at the University of Memphis in August 1998. He has grown the company from a one man operation to 400 employees in less than 10 years through organic growth.
Chen's dynamic leadership has resulted in tremendous growth in Sunshine's sales and the Memphis-based firm now has two manufacturing facilities in China and four US branch offices. He was named as Top Executive of the Year by Business Tennessee magazine in 2006 and Top 40 under 40 by Memphis Business Journal in 2008. He won the award for Executive of the Year by Memphis Business Journal in 2007 and Entrepreneur of the Year by Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis in 2008. The company was also recognized in Fast 50 companies in Tennessee in 2005 and as one of the fastest growing companies in the US by Inc. magazine.
Chen is a member of the Young President's Organization and the Economic Club of Memphis. He serves on the Advisory Board for Fogelman College of Business and Economics. He also serves on the board for the International MBA Club at the University of Memphis and the Greater Memphis United Chinese Association. Chen previously served as a member of Metropolitan Bank's Tennessee Advisory Board.
"Wei's addition to Metropolitan's holding company board of directors is confirmation of the bank's continuing commitment to seek the most talented and committed business people in the communities we serve. We are proud of Wei's dedicated support of our bank and his enthusiastic efforts to help us continue our growth and exceptional financial performance for our shareholders." said Curt Gabardi, Chief Executive Officer, Metropolitan Bank.
